Wild River Then & Now Photo Contest

Written and Posted by Dan Lutts

Calling all photographers!

Here’s an opportunity to show off your photographic skills and also win a prize and public recognition at the same time by entering the Wild River Then & Now photo contest.

The Photo Challenge

As you probably know, the Museum Center at 5ive Points is opening a new exhibit next week called Wild River: Hollywood Comes to Bradley County. The exhibit celebrates the 50th anniversary of the movie Wild River, which was filmed right here in Bradley county.

Montgemory Clift and Lee Remick starred in Wild River. But two other big stars weren’t people at all. They were rivers: the Hiawassee and the Tennessee. The film not only featured panoramic scenes of the rivers meandering through the landscape, but also highlighted their power and force in nature.

Your challenge in the Wild River Then & Now photo contest is to capture the rivers as they are today. But the rivers don’t have to be just the Hiawassee and the Tennessee. Your pictures can be of any river in east Tennessee.

The subject matter can be anything related to rivers, such as:

  • Wildlife
  • Plant life
  • Landscapes
  • Buildings
  • People interacting with nature
